UNEXPECTEDLY FUNNY. DELIBERATELY IMPROBABLE.
Great comedy gets better when more people get the mic.Improbable Comedy produces smart, welcoming live comedy featuring professional comedians with different backgrounds, perspectives, and stories. Based in Silver Spring, we bring people together to laugh across the region.
GOOD PEOPLE. FUN TIMES.
Improbable Comedy was founded by social-worker-turned-comedy-producer Kim Levone with a simple idea: put great comedians onstage, create a room where people actually want to be, and make space for voices comedy hasn’t always centered.
Our lineups have featured women, LGBTQ+ comedians, BIPOC performers, immigrants, comedians with disabilities, and plenty of people whose stories don’t fit neatly into one box.
The result is comedy that feels more like the communities we live in: varied, surprising, smart, and very funny.
GREAT SHOWS
FOR EVERYONE.
-
GREAT COMEDIANS - Professional performers who know how to work a room and make people laugh.
-
MORE VOICES - Lineups that reflect more of the people, experiences, and perspectives around us.
-
WELCOMING ROOMS - Comedy can be sharp and welcoming. We want people to leave feeling better than when they arrived.
-
LOCAL MATTERS - We work with local venues, businesses, nonprofits, artists, and community organizations because comedy is better when it belongs somewhere.
WE LIKE A THEME
Alongside our regular stand-up shows, Improbable Comedy creates themed programs that give comedians a reason to dig into specific experiences, communities, and ideas.
Past and recurring shows include:
-
Comedy as a Second Language - Immigrant stories, culture clashes, family, language, and life between worlds.
-
The MOTHER of All Comedy Shows - Women comedians taking on motherhood, relationships, work, family, and everything surrounding them.
-
Science Comedy - Scientists, science nerds, comedians, and the absurdity of trying to understand how anything works.
-
Joke Sistas - A showcase centering funny Black women.
-
Sense of Tumor - Comedy meets cancer survivorship, community, and fundraising.
And sometimes we just put great comedians in a room and let them be funny.
TOP TALENT FOR
LOCAL LAUGHS.
At Improbable Comedy, we look for comedians with different backgrounds who love performing and dig the audience.
Our comedians on our shows perform across the country in top clubs and venues. Immigrant stories, relationship foibles, and an uncanny ability to see the familiar in a humorous light. Check them out at an upcoming show!
