About the Performers
Jason Weems is a Baltimore based stand-up comedian who has been featured on NBC’S Last Comic Standing, Fox, and HBO. His online series “The Lunchtime Show” premiered on Marlon Wayans’ comedy platform WhatTheFunny.com and Jason was a finalist at the HBO sponsored American Black Film Festival Comedy Competition in Miami. His special, Unknown, was released nationally in 2021. His live show is truly one of a kind, and tailor fit to each unique crowd. In conjunction with standup, Jason can be heard in the popular serialized podcast “First Day Back”, where he is the subject of the newly released Season 3. Brittany Carney started standup comedy in DC and is now based in New York, where she performs at the Comedy Cellar. Her standup is featured on Comedy Central, and she is a Staff Writer for Season 2 of That Damn Michael Che on HBO Max.
Missy Hall is the Queen of Happy Things! She loves to laugh, believes pants are optional and thinks the world would be better place if dogs were in charge. She is the 2013 winner of the Laugh Out Loud Competition, has worked as a warm-up comic for Harry Connick, Jr at CBS Television, and her freshman comedy CD, “Miss Representation” was a first round Grammy nominee in 2012 for funniest comedy album. She was a headliner at the 2019 San Diego Comedy Festival, and made Best of the Fest in the 2019 Burbank Comedy Festival and she has recently appeared in an AMC commercial on Jezebel for the new show “Kevin Can F*&k Himself”
About the Theatre: The Silver Spring Black Box offers theatre style seating. Snacks and drinks are sold in the lobby before the show and at intermission.
Accessibility: The Black Box is ADA compliant, completely wheelchair accessible, has handicap stalls in all bathrooms, and has both headphone and loop assisted listening devices connected to the theatre’s sound system.
Covid Protocol: The Black Box Theatre will follow the guidelines set forth by the Montgomery County. Currently, the theatre requires a temperature check, proof of vaccination and mask wearing when not actively eating or drinking. These will be updated here for review at any time by audience members.
Getting There / Parking: The Black Box is located 2 blocks away from the Silver Spring Metro Station and parking is available at area garages: the Town Square Garage and the Cameron St. Parking Garage.
